Patoranking’s rise in Nigerian music has never been anything around fluke, his rise has been subject to his vast knowledge of music and his extraordinary talent. The singer having achieved his break in the music industry in 2013 with his then hit single, “Alubarika” featuring Timaya has moved on to be even a more superb artiste than he used to be.
He is well accepted not only in the Nigerian Sphere of music but also Africa in general, many thanks to his versatility and music ability. The singer who sings mostly in Jamaican Patois can also switch to singing as a proper Afrobeat artiste and be overly comfortable.
His debut album was “God Over Everything” which he released in 2016. However the journey since 2016 has been really smooth and exciting for the singer who can lay claims to being one of the current biggest superstars in Africa. That journey from 2016 has now led him to release his sophomore album; “Wilmer” which dropped last week, and that’s exactly what this article is all about as i will be reviewing the album which consists of 12 tracks and 6 features.
Starting with the number one track, “Wilmer” featuring Georgian singer, Bera is a soulful song that talks about a woman Patoranking his professing his love to. He is showering accolades on the lady as well as expressing the fact that she makes him feel great at all times. The song is accompanied with great instrumentation, the beat is simple and the sound elements aid perfectly the intention of the song. Bera’s part is top-notch too, it’s a great collaboration.
The number 2 track is titled “Feelings,” one of my favourite songs on the “Wilmer” Album. The song comes in an almost reggae like form, talking about how Patoranking feels happy and excited when the mystery woman he expresses himself about on the track comes close to where he is. The instrumental of the song is glorious and Pato’s vocals did justice to the song.
Patoranking on the number 3 track, “Temperature” thrives comes through with his greatest strength, dance-hall. Like he is famously known to do, he delivers aptly on the song and makes sure it is one for the party and clubs. A potential hit!
Patoranking seems to be all about love in the album as he invites Kenyan act, Nyanshinki to complement his artistry on this low-tempo jam, “Nakupenda” which sits on the number 4 position of the project. There isn’t much about this particular track. Although i do not feel it’s a really good song, but i do not have any serious criticism for it.
Definitely my favourite of the album and the reason why it is is straight-forward, plain and simple.
Patoranking on this track preaches the reality that continues to destroy the African existence. The number 5 track of the album is not a song, it is more of an ode that reveals why Africa continues to wallow in backwardness. It expresses the hatred, contempt, envy and evil intentions that the black people have towards each other. “Black sold black, black kill black, black relegate black, black deceive black, black division, black hate black…” These statements might seem unbelievable, but they are the exact truth and the reasons Africa continues to never grow and develop. This track identifies these problems and gives the simple solution to all of these huge problems. It recommends LOVE as the only solution. This track preaches love. What an awesome sermon, perfect number 5.
Moving on to the number 6 track of the album, “Zero Probleme,” i would say i do not find it exciting which would aid my excuse for not wanting to review it. Or should i just state why i do not like it? Okay then, i would. I do not like it because it has no amusement, Patoranking did well but Dadju who is a French singer, flopped. The thing about this song is, it should have been blessed with a chorus/hook that is melodious and one can easily vibe to, but it doesn’t. It has a nice beat though, a beat like
Patoranking’s “no Kissing” featuring Sarkodie, but the difference in the two songs wouldn’t be hard to spot.
The number 7 track, “Lenge Lenge” is a song that almost everyone knows now as it was released as a single. The song brings a reminiscence of the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti as Patoranking adopts the call & response pattern to the song. He also adopts the simple and addictive story-telling pattern of the late baba 70. Pato sings about a woman he met who reminded him of one of his favourite ladies whom he calls, Shalewa due to her sexy body assets. “Lenge Lenge” is a fun track and one that would definitely put you in a mood you’d wish you are cooling off with a bottle of cold beer at a joint.
Moving on to the number 8 track, “Turn Up”
Patoranking and English singer/rapper Donae’o did well to to put together a party jam that could cause people to vibe gallantly on the dance floor. Like the title; “Turn Up,” the song talks all about partying and the cause for celebration. How well to be a party rider and enjoy the glamour and thrills of a party.
“Champion” is the number 9 track and teaches everyone to be wary of betrayal. It teaches not to trust anyone as the people who are trusted the most turn out to become one’s greatest enemy. It also admonishes everyone not to hate people that are getting success as success itself never go to people who are hating. With funk-like beat, Patoranking has been able to score a pretty decent song and one that is a eye opener. Nice beats to accompany you all through to the end of the song.
It is understandable why Patoranking has left “Go Crazy” to be the number 10 track. Like the title of the song, the beat would make you “go crazy” except you are just not totally in the mood to give-in to the demand of the song, but anything aside that, you might eventually lose your home training. The song is a dance track with a really fast beat and an electrifying sound element. It would bring you back to life if you experienced any dull moment while listening to the album, i guess that it’s aim.
“Open Fire” featuring South-African act, Busiswa being the penultimate track is really a good move for me and the reason is because i find it boring. If i had heard it earlier in the beginning, i might not have listened to it. It doesn’t make sense to me.
The final track is “Confirm” featuring Davido and this is another personal favourite after “Black.” The beat is really cool and the voices well laced. The song has great melody, sounds groovy and the lyrics in relation to the ambition of the song, make sense. It’s a good way to end the beautiful “Wilmer” album.
In summary, this album is another way Patoranking has proven his versatility and effortlessness at making really good music. He didn’t leave a chance for any serious criticism on the album and definitely this is a great improvement to his debut album; “God Over Everything (GOE).”
I am rating the album; 8.5/10.

Arsenal have been urged to consider a summer move for struggling Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez .
Sanchez, 30, spent four years at Arsenal before leaving the club to join United in January 2018.
The Chile international has endured a dismal spell at Old Trafford, however, scoring just five goals for the club.
Sanchez is already being linked with a departure from Manchester United and former Arsenal star Lauren says he could revive his career at the Emirates.
‘Sanchez is a top player and top players are always welcome at Arsenal,’ Lauren told American Gambler .

A rebel leader accused of orchestrating deadly attacks in Rwandas border regions pleaded guilty Thursday to terrorism and other charges, and admitted to working with foreign governments against Kigali.
The admission of conspiracy by Callixte Nsabimana, the spokesman for the National Liberation Front (FLN), risks further escalating tensions between Rwandas President Paul Kagame and his immediate neighbours, whom he has accused of spying.
Nsabimana was arrested last month for his involvement with FLN, an insurgent movement blamed for attacks inside Rwanda from a forested area near Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nsabimana plead guilty to 16 charges including terrorism and murder, and offered an unconditional apology for his crimes.
“I apologise for all things I did,” he told the court.
“I want to declare that my work with FLN is over, and anything else they do from now on is their business, not mine. I would like to apologise to the president, those that we injured and the families of those who died. I apologise to all Rwandans.”
Flight risk
His lawyer requested bail, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. The prosecution opposed bail, declaring Nsabimana a flight risk.
The FLN is the armed wing of the Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change, a political opposition group founded by Paul Rusesabagina, the hotelier whose actions during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi were depicted in the Hollywood blockbuster Hotel Rwanda.
In December last year, Nsabimana claimed responsibility for setting fire to passenger buses in Nyungwe Forest—a region popular among tourists coming to see endangered mountain gorillas—which led to the death of two people and many injuries.
Those attacks prompted many Western governments including France, Germany, Canada, and Australia to advise their nationals against travel to the area.
A number of rebel groups opposed to Kagame have proliferated just over Rwanda's borders in remote forest regions of DR Congo and Burundi.
The FLN is also affiliated with the Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR), another rebel group based in DR Congo, which occasionally carries out cross-border attacks against Rwandan forces.
In his guilty plea, Nsabimana admitted to collaborating with Burundis intelligence services and Ugandas military.
“We asked them for military and diplomatic support against Rwanda, and they were willing to help us,” he said.
Kagame has accused his neighbours of meddling in Rwandas affairs and sponsoring armed movements against his government in Kigali.
In February, he ordered the border with Uganda shut, and ties with Burundi have long been sour.

Nigerian rapper, Ruggedman has declared war on Nigerian blogger, Kemi Olunloyo and plans to sue for defamation of character
Ruggedman has been a topic of discussion ever since he voiced his opinions on Naira Marley’s controversial statement on cybercrime.
Eyebrows were raised and all eyes were on him when Naira Marley was arrested as he was one of the few who openly criticized the singer. It is believed that he might have played a major role for the singer to be arrested.
Controversial Journalist and blogger, Kemi Olunloyo accused Ruggedman of facilitating Naira Marley’s arrest and in a recent interview with The Punch, the rapper revealed that he is planning to sue the blogger for defamation of character.
According to him, his lawyers have already contacted the blogger to “retract, cease and desist from further defamation of the character”. He stated that he would take further legal action if she refuses to cooperate.
He said “The next step has been clearly stated in my lawyers’ letter to her. They will act accordingly if she fails to stop.”
The rapper also revealed that he does not have a clue to why the Journalist has decided to taint his name in such a demeaning manner.
“I wouldn’t know her state of mind or her motives. My interest in her not using her platform or any platform to defame my name and spread false information that could incite people into actions that threaten my peace and safety. That is against the law.”
According to reports, the singer who is in Ghana presently was rushed to the hospital where it was confirmed that he had been poisoned via the food he took.
Sources close to the singer speaking on the incident said;
“This happened after eating last night he felt dizzy and troubled all over his body…. couldn’t even see…. he was was rushed to the hospital and after all the tests the doctors..confirmed its food poisoning and fever”, according to an insider.
The singer has since taken top IG to reassure his fans that he is fine.
“Nothing too serious, doctor said it’s ok to break down… ve missed all my interviews and meetings today, but my doctor said I may make it to @verchimusic ‘Shabba listening party tonight… I pray”

…Says active subscribers increase to 173.7 million
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has clarified that it has recently re-aligned the computation of the country’s teledensity with the latest population figure of 190 million given by the National Population Commission (NPC), up from the 140 million population of 2006.
Following the re-alignment, which is also in line with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s calculation of teledensity, the Commission arrived at a teledensity of 91 per cent by the end of March, 2019.
This is just as active subscriber base for the month of March increased to 173.7 million from 173.6 million in February, 2019.
Telephone density or teledensity is the number of telephone connections for every hundred individuals living within an area.
Hitherto, teledensity in Nigeria was calculated using the 140 million population official figure of 2006 against the prevailing monthly subscriber base.
According to the Commission, as at February, 2019, when the 140 million population figure was last used and benchmarked against the active subscriber base of 173.6 million, the country’s teledensity stood at 124.05 per cent.
The teledensity figure stood at 124.29 per cent in January with active subscriber base of 174 million.
However, from March 2019, the Commission began to use the rebased 190 million population of Nigeria, as projected by the NPC, against the subscriber base of 176.7 million to calculate teledensity.
With the regulatory re-alignment by the NCC, teledensity for the country as at end of March, 2019 was put at 91 per cent. This is based on the rebased population figure of 190 million against active subscriber base of 173.7 million.
Explaining further, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, said the clarification on teledensity calculation has become necessary to avoid misinterpretation of the re-alignment to mean a reduction in teledensity.
“Rather, the teledensity actually did not reduce because in March, active mobile subscriber base actually increased. So, what has happened is a re-alignment of the teledensity calculation with the rebased population figure of 190 million against the prevailing monthly subscriber base, which is a more realistic figure for the country in light of the latest population figure,” Danbatta said.
The EVC said “this clarification is to accurately inform telecoms operators and telecoms investors, who must be provided with realistic and accurate figures needed for their day-to-day decision-making process. The clarification will also bring other stakeholders such as academia and industry researchers in tandem with the updated teledensity.”

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said the commission is seeking partnership with Nigerian entertainers to fight corruption particularly internet fraud.
He made this statement on Wednesday while speaking on the prosecution of musician, Afeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley, for charges bordering on internet fraud at an interactive session with artists, comedians, and On-Air-Personalities in Abuja.
“I have said it in the past and I will also like to restate, that the EFCC does not go after an innocent person.“Our mandate is to rid Nigeria of any form of economic and financial crimes, and the internet .
Magu also sought to partner with Nigerian artistes and comedians in the fight against corruption particularly internet fraud. EFCC acting spokesman, Mr. Tony Orilade quoted the chairman to have told the stakeholders in the entertainment industry that they had a part to play in discouraging criminality in the society. He said, “You have a very wide reach, so lend us your voices.
Please let your works propagate and promote integrity and the right values.“I urge you to raise a collective slogan against all forms of criminality among our youths, condemn in strong terms, ostentatious living without credible sources of income, particularly the get-rich-at-all-cost syndrome among the youths
.“We need you to join hands with the EFCC in this fight against corruption because we need you more than ever before to change the negative narratives about our country being havens of internet fraudsters.“I have always stressed that we cannot claim to have the monopoly of knowledge of how to fight corruption at the EFCC.
“We are, however, driven by the passion to explore all frontiers that will enable us to achieve a better society for our children yet unborn – an egalitarian society and one which we all can be proud of.

The National Film and Video Censors Board has set up three panels to analyse and classify a film titled, ‘Bob Risky in Love’ starring Idris Okunneye aka Bob Risky.
‘Bob Risky in Love’ was produced by Nollywood Namaste Production company while Ken Steve Anuka was the director.
Bobrisky is featured in the movie as a transgender woman named Cherechi who traveled out of the country as a man only to return to the village as a woman to the chagrin of his fiancee and relatives.
The soundtrack of the movie, also urges members of the public to accept Cherechi aka Cherry B as a transgender.
It is also suspected that the cross-dresser is now a transgender as he recently revealed that he cut off his manhood a long time ago.

Kogi Police command, on Thursday arrested 24 persons suspected to be kidnappers, armed robbers and bandits.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Hakeem Busari, stated this on Thursday in Lokoja, while briefing newsmen.
He said that four persons – Adamu Hassan, Umar Salihu, Ibrahim Musa, Usman Abubakar and Muhammed Bello – suspected to be herdsmen were arrested on a tip-off by operatives of “Operation Puff Adder”.
Busari said that the police had received distress calls and other information that the suspects were behind series of kidnapping on Obajana-Kabba road, NAN reports.
He said that 10 suspects were arrested in connection with robbery incidents in Lokoja, Ogugu, Olamaboro, Ayangba and Dekina Local Government Areas.
He said that two pistols and one locally-made single-barrel gun were recovered from three of the suspects, whose name he gave as Aliyu Sule, Danjuma Isah and Musa Seidu.
According to the commissioner, four rifles, comprising one AK47, two pump-action and one single barrel gun and 30 rounds of live ammunitions and 12 cartridges were recovered from them.
He said that two other suspects, Friday Abah and Ogbaje Chukwuma, were held for robbing Mr Ojochenemi Baba and a filling station manager of their cars, cash and other valuables on March 11 at Olamaboro.
Busari said that a Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos EKY 473 DZ, one Sharon car, three handsets, a TV decoder, one flat screen television, one single-barrel gun and six live cartridges were found in their possession.
Also arrested for alleged armed robbery, he said, were Abdulkarim Sunday and Benjamin Stephen, who were caught at Ayangba on May 5, adding that one locally-made gun and a telephone were recovered from them.
He disclosed that two suspects, Danlami Mohammed and Abdulkadiri Ismail, were apprehended for motorcycle snatching, and Martin Igwe and Emeka Okeke for being in possession stolen vehicle parts.
Busari also stated that four other suspects – Alhaji Usman, Usman Arome, Ogwu Shaibu and Yakubu Stanlus – were arrested for attacking herdsmen passing through Ulara village in Dekina Local Government Area on March 18.
According to him, the fulani herdsmen stopped over in the village to break their fast when they were attacked by the armed youths.
He said that three herdsmen and 846 cows were still missing, adding that many of the cows were believed to have been killed by the villagers.
The police boss said that a team of operatives of SARS Unit of the command that went to the village to assess the situation were engaged in a gun duel by armed youths.
“In the process, the four suspects were arrested and one unknown corpse recovered, with a gun,” he said.
He promised to get to the root of the attack on the herdsmen and bring the culprits to book, adding that all the suspects would be charged to court.

At least one person has been confirmed killed and several others injured after an attack by gunmen on a pub in Jos around Busa Buji, the Plateau State capital.
The attack in Jos on Sunday was confirmed by the Deputy Commander of the Special Task Force, Emma Ado, occurred on Saturday when football fans were watching the 2019 English FA Cup final match between Manchester City and Watford.
“Yes, someone told me of the attack but I have yet to get the details. I will get back to you as soon as I have the details of what transpired,” Ado said.
However, eyewitnesses said the gunmen, suspected to be cultists, stormed the Garden Palace Hotel and Bar in the Busa Buji suburb of Jos around 7pm and opened fire on the football fans.
One of the residents, Mr Philip Azi, who escaped being killed, said a local footballer, identified as John Davou, was hit three times in the head by the gunmen, while several others fans were injured.
He said, “What I know is that during the attack, John Davou, 25, died instantly, while another man, Francis Bot, who was sitting close to Davou, sustained bullet wounds. Several others also sustained injuries while trying to escape from the scene.”
Another resident, Mr Mathew Nengak, added,
“I suspect that Davou was probably the target, because he was the only one pelted with bullets, while everyone else only sustained injuries, some with bullet wounds.
According to Mr Nengak one of the victim recently sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and was hoping to gain admission into a university before he was killed by the gunmen. This is really sad.

NIGERIAN superstar artist Mr Eazi is set to launch three service provider platforms known as `emPawa Africa’ in July.
The skin tight hit maker made known on his Twitter handle.
@mreazi stating: “I said it, and I am doing it! Empawa Distribution, Empawa Publishing, Empawa Label Services all Launch JULY 19!!!! Jah be Praised.”
According to Eazi, emPawa Africa is a “service provider” that should not be conflated with his label Banku Music.
He added that since its creation, emPawa has started a campaign to give $5,000 to 10 individuals/groups on his YouTube page, stressing that the project has put up music more than seven acts across Africa.
The singer has decided to officially launch other arms of the service provider on July 19, a project he has been working on for the past 12 months.

Jos – By this time next month, 23 out of the 24 Members-elect of the Plateau State House of Assembly might have resumed legislative duties in the ninth Assembly. The Members, 16 of them being first time legislators have so far attended a seminar where they were taken through the rudiments of legislative duties.
But before they would resume duties, the battle for who would become the Speaker of the Assembly is raging with diverse interests seeking to influence the House decision to pick their preferred candidates for the position.
Among the interests seeking to produce their preferred candidates are the All Progressives Congress, APC which has the majority seats in the House, individual Members-elect who think they are qualified to be so-elected, the body of first time legislators who say they are more in number than the old timers and so have the number to influence decisions as well as citizens who feel only the most qualified of the Members should be allowed to lead the House.
Before this dilemma, the position of the Speaker was occupied by Plateau North Senatorial zone; the Governor is from Plateau South and the Deputy is from Plateau Central. The initial Speaker of the eighth Assembly, Mr. Peter Azi who is Member representing Jos North-West constituency was impeached and the incumbent Speaker, Joshua Madaki who is representing Jos East Constituency came on board.
Both Azi and Madaki are not returning to the House as Azi lost his seat to Esther Dusu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP while the zoning formula in Jos East did not favour the return of Madaki who would have continued as the Speaker.
At that time, it was believed that the deceased Member representing Pengana constituency of Bassa local government area, late Ezekiel Afon would likely be the Speaker as he was an experienced lawmaker and from the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Unfortunately, Afon died hours after winning his re-election hence the vacancy which needs to be filled via a bye-election. Before his burial, political permutations began on who would represent the Constituency in the yet to be conducted bye-election and Gondina Sambo from the APC who came second in the primary election which produced Afon as the Constituency’s candidate felt he should automatically take the position but his Party feels otherwise claiming that Pengana constituency has a zoning arrangement that does not favour Sambo and must be obeyed.
However, a former Deputy Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Baba-Hassan representing Jos North-North constituency is rumoured to be very interested in the seat since the position is still zoned to Plateau North but issues of indigene/settler as well as religion which have assumed a frightening dimension in the State may work against Baba-Hassan as he is from the Hausa/Fulani enclave.
So far, nobody can read the body language of the Governor as Saturday Vanguard gathered that he has kept mum over the issue but the APC leadership; we also gathered had thought of jettisoning the zoning arrangement but was cautioned against it for the sake of equity and fairness.
At the time of this report, it was reliably gathered that the Party has shifted its search from Pengana constituency to Jos East constituency and is tilted to supporting Abok Ayuba to emerge as the Speaker. Ayuba is a first timer and may be replacing the incumbent Speaker, Joshua Madaki who did not seek a re-election due to zoning formula in his area.
Although Abok is a young man in his 30s; from Fada-Fobour in Jos East local government area and a student of Law in the University Jos, pundits believe that he lacks the experience that would enable him handle such an assignment.
An APC stalwart who did not want to be named told Vanguard he would suggest the Party leaving the zoning arrangement the way it is where the governor is from South, the Deputy from Central and Speaker from North. “In the event we do not get anyone in Bassa or Jos East, there are other local government areas in the Northern zone. The Member from Barkin Ladi, Peter Gyendeng, though from PDP is an experienced lawmaker, we still need more hands in our fold, he can be prevailed upon to decamp and join us so that he can lead the House in that capacity; instead of denying the Northern zone that opportunity.”
Another lawmaker who also hid his identity said he would advise Gyendeng not to embark in “such a suicide mission because I prefer to see him as a Member in House rather than being a Speaker and be disgraced.”
He asked; “Has Gyendeng been fraternizing with Governor or the APC? On what ground will they trust him enough with the leadership of the House? Again, everyone knows that Barkin Ladi is PDP, how will his people react if he takes such a decision without their blessing?”
This lawmaker lamented that the House is finding itself in the position of waiting to get an anointed candidate from people outside the legislature because of lack of autonomy. “If not, how can we be so controlled without any reaction? Even our legitimate funds are not released to us, we approve the money the executive spends yet we are so starved of funds to the point that we become so subservient.”
One of the lawmakers who is returning for a second term, not wanting to be named, told Vanguard, “From all indication they want to give the guy in Jos East but every member is entitled to be a Speaker, all we want is that the position should be opened for contest and whoever the Members want to be their leaders should emerge and that would be okay. Ayodele Fayose, ex-Governor of Ekiti State, has condemned the sacking of 2,000 workers by Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Fayemi, had on Wednesday at the State Executive Council meeting, sacked over 2,000 workers employed into the state workforce by former Governor Ayodele Fayose after the July 2018 Ekiti Governorship Election.
Muyiwa Olumilua, Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, who spoke to newsmen said Fayemi had also directed Ayodeji Ajayi, Head of Service, “to collate all available vacancies in the civil service, with the overhead implications to enable the state government to prepare to recruit suitable and qualified Ekiti citizens into the public service, irrespective of the party affiliations.”
Fayose, reacting to the mass sack, said Fayemi has succeeded in writing his name in the history books of Ekiti as one who inflicted sorrow on the people.
He also branded Fayose’s supporters as being against the well being of Ekiti people.
“He has demonstrated this by sacking Ekiti people who were duly employed by the state government.
“Whoever that applauds this show of wickedness will be reminded in future when actions of Fayemi will also be reviewed,” Fayose said.
The former governor of the state urged the victims to approach the court of law to ensure their rights are not infringed upon.
“As for those who have now become victims of this act of wickedness and political vendetta, they should enforce their rights to seek redress in the court of law.”
The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu has urged Nigerian students to desist from cyber crimes, popularly referred to as Yahoo -Yahoo and all other forms of internet-related offenses that could derail their destinies.
Magu stated this on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, while delivering a lecture at the University of Ilorin on the dangers of internet fraud.
The EFCC boss who was represented by Head, Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences, Ilorin Zonal Office, Olamide Sadiq said anyone caught for offenses bordering on internet fraud would be detained, prosecuted and jailed.
According to him, “if you use pictures that do not belong to you just with the intent to defraud someone, it is an impersonation. You have committed an offense that carries five years imprisonment.”I am emphasizing to you on the need to desist from cyber crimes.
If you are found to be in possession of fraudulent documents, you have committed a criminal offense which has a great consequence.”The EFCC boss informed the students that the Commission has special powers to cause investigations into anyone or corporate body, suspected to have participated in economic and financial crimes.
“When it comes to issuing of internet fraud, Section 7 of the EFCC Act gives a special power to the Commission to investigate anyone suspected to have committed internet crimes. “A police officer can arrest an internet fraudster and bring him/her to the Commission. If we find out that the person is innocent, we will allow him or her to go.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, says defaulting motorists run the risk of being fined N10, 000 as it begins a special patrol code-named “Operation Show Your Driver’s Licence” on Monday, PM News reports.
The State Sector Commander, Mr Hyginus Omeje, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, signed by the Sector’s Head of Public Education, Superintendent Route Commander (SRC) Florence Edor.
Omeje said that the two-week special patrol was aimed at reducing the high incidents of motorists driving without valid driver’s licence in the state, as most motorists who apply for licence never care to go back to the licensing offices to collect their permanent licence.
“We are starting our patrol operation by May 20, as we have 64,468 uncollected permanent driver’s licence across the state,” he said.
The sector commander expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of some motorists driving without valid licence.
According to him, it is the only legal document that permits anyone to drive on Nigerian roads.
He said that if a defaulter could not produce his licence within 24 hours, he is liable to a fine.
A 24-year old Ghanaian lady identified as Akua has revealed that she slept with 600 men in a year during her days as a prostitute.
According to the Ghanaian lady, she opted for prostitution so as to survived the harsh economy in the country. She said she started facing the harshness of the economy when her jealous friends made her boyfriend who was sponsoring her to dump her.
“My boyfriend whom I met when I went to visit an uncle who was sponsoring my education. We had agreed to get married as soon as possible. A new report revealed that 29,723 Nigerian immigrants in the US ‘overstayed’ in 2018, after arriving as non-immigrants through the air or sea port of entry (POE).
The report titled: “The fiscal Year 2018 Entry/Exit Overstay Report”, shows the numbers and rate of expected departures of foreigners, who arrived in the United States as non-immigrants.
195,785 Nigerians who were given visas into the US, were expected to leave ”within the above window.” However Nigeria had 15.18 per cent rate of overstay, and a suspected ‘In-Country Overstay’ rate of 14.81 per cent.
A push further revealed that 29,723 Nigerian immigrants in the US ‘overstayed’ in 2018 (No departure record for 29,004 immigrants; while only 719 travellers left the country after their visas expired).
On the other hand, Djibouti, a small Africa country, has the highest rate of visa overstay immigrants at 180; with 403 expected departures.
The numbers translate to 44.67 per cent and a Suspected In-Country Overstay rate of 43.92 per cent.
The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has appealed to Nigerians to stop eating foreign rice because it is poisonous.
He said this on Thursday in Abuja at a news conference organised by the Ministry of Finance.
Ali said the Federal Government had not issued license for importation of rice and that any rice seen on the streets that was not produced in Nigeria was smuggled.
He said that the imported rice was poisonous because before coming into the country, it must have spent a minimum of five years in the silos.
“A chemical must have been added to sustain its freshness and that chemical is harmful.
“Also, it has been re-bagged with a new date given as the production and expiry dates, and that is what we consume here which causes diseases.
“So, I appeal to Nigerians to please patronise our own rice, it is available, more nutritious and if you do that you will assist Customs by making sure these people are put out of business.”
Ali said that rice importation was one of the biggest challenges the NCS was encountering, adding that it still happens because Nigerians consume imported rice.
He added that if Nigerians stop buying the imported rice, smugglers will go out of business and there will be no need to bring it in.
“We always ask for assistance from Nigerians to apprehend these smugglers, but up till now, there is no private citizen that has walked up to us to give us information, the only people giving us information are the rice millers.
“We are working very closely with them to make sure that the rice that comes into this country is validly processed.”
According to him, there is no smuggler that is too big to be arrested, and that the NCS has in custody three big rice smugglers.
He said because of the smugglers, the NCS enlarged its task force specifically to fight rice problem, especially in the season of fasting, a celebration period which smugglers would try to import rice.

Naira Marley’s management have issued a statement concerning his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.
The statement seen below tends to clarify the singer’s stance and motive behind his new song “Am I A Yahoo Boy”.

“The current situation with Naira Marley is extremely unfortunate. On May 10th, 2019, Naira Marley was arrested in the early early hours of his birthday.“
We heard there had been complaints and concerns around his recent comments around cyber crime, Naira did not publicly defend those who commit fraud, he expressed his view on the situation which was simply his opinion in which every human being is entitled to.“
Following on from this, he innocently made a playful, reactive song “am i a yahoo boy?” in response to the growing feed-backs he received. As an artiste, music is Naira’s avenue of expressing himself, the son “am i a yahoo boy?” is a rhetorical question, assuming people would find it humorous as well as be a light-hearted response to those tackling him online.
He is not a yahoo boy! “Naira Marley is a hardworking artiste who has turned his back on crime and focuses solely on music. He’s an artiste, father and most importantly a human being.“He has been making music for a while but recently became popular after the success of “Issa Goal,” a song which celebrated Nigeria and the nation’s contribution in sport.“
Music is his passion, entertainment is his career and the only way he makes his earnings. Naira Marley does not practice fraud neither does he facilitate it.“Naira Marley isn’t just an artiste in the public eye, he is a human being with rights. At present, his basic human and civic rights are being violated. The EFCC are yet to find “hard evidence.”
“His reputation is being tainted and he’s been used as the poster boy for fraud. Cyber-crime is a serious issue in Nigeria and is something the government is actively tackling, as they should, however, their efforts to persecute Naira is based on a cheeky song and questionable items found on a borrowed item isn’t fair.
“Naira Marley was found with an item that does not belong to him. Items retrieved were borrowed so he can upload music, videos and records whilst visiting Nigeria.“Naira does not believe he is above the law, he made a few comments that did not sit well with the authorities and they are using him as a scapegoat to show their strict stance on cyber-crime.
Naira has been in custody for over five days.
Naira Marley is an artiste that speaks for the street, those who do not have a voice, not only in Nigeria but in the UK also. Although his messages may come across misconstrued, he loves his country, he cares for his people and wants people to feel free and happy when they listen to his music.
We are all entitled to freedom of speech and to express ourselves creatively. No one should be penalized for it even when it’s a controversial topic. The real criminals of Nigeria should be the focus and not an individual who is bringing positive attention to Nigerian music and culture internationally.
Our lawyers are working diligently to prove his innocence and have him set free. there is a lot of false information circulating around and we have released this statement to set the records straight.
However, the EFCC are still investigating. This is a very sensitive topic and a public case. We ask that the media report accurately as false claims can harm his reputation and livelihood.

Naira Marley was arrested alongside four others in connection to internet fraud aka Yahoo Yahoo. While others have been released, he remains in custody with the EFCC stating that the evidence against him is overwhelming beyond releasing him on bail. The commission also stated that he will soon be charged to court.
The singer was picked up on his birthday just few days after he dropped his controversial single. Before then, he had been vocally in support of Yahoo boys whom he says are repaying foreigners for the transatlantic slave trade.
Davido has reacted after he was sorta called out by friends of the recently detained rapper, Zlatan Ibile after his release from EFCC custody for alleged cyber fraud.
When the news of his release hit the wed, it was widely reported that Davido was the one who hired a Senior Advocate Of Nigeria to represent Zlatan, Naira Marley and three others who were arrested.
The singer was also quick to congratulate him upon his release adding “love you, bro”.
However, some of Zlatan’s friends came out to state that Olamide and Burna Boy were the ones who helped and not Davido – the singer has in light of this, reacted on his Instagram page.

15-year-old Ekene Franklin Ezeunala, who scored 347 to emerge the overall best in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) targeted 370 out of a possible 400 has revealed what helped him achieve the feat.
According to TheNation, the SS3 pupil of Meiran Community Secondary School, Meiran, on the outskirts of Lagos, is, however, happy with his mark.
He said yesterday that he was shocked to be announced the candidate with the highest score.
Ekene told The Nation: “I tried to make a good score while preparing for the examination. The score I was targeting was 370. I still feel happy that I still achieved a good result.”
The teenager, who will turn 15 May 27, said: “When I first heard I was the highest, I was a bit shocked. But I became glad and happy.”
He attributed his feat to regular participation in competitions oragnised by of Lagos State government.
“The competitions impacted positively on my preparation. Some of the subjects I did I had done them in preparing for the competitions and met the same thing in the exams,” he said.
Ekene wants to study Chemical Engineering in the university – for the love of it and to impact the society. He said he was already working on some bio-fuel research to reduce carbon emissions in Nigeria.
“I want to study Chemical Engineering because I feel that chemistry and technology can impact the general public and society in various ways; and personally, I have a flair for chemistry,” he said.
His mother, Mrs. Chinelo Ezeunala, a Chemistry teacher at Hightree College, a private school at Berger, Lagos, said she was happy about her son’s feat.
The Chemistry graduate said her son had always shown brilliance in his education and as a result skipped some classes in primary school.
“He started school early at two years plus because I was serving when I had him. He attended Philthel Primary School, Akoka. The school was owned by a professor teaching at the University of Lagos. But the woman is late now.
“In primary school he was very bright so he was promoted twice that was why he is 14 years in SS3,” she said.
Mrs Ezeunala learnt of a scholarship offer by Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, from this reporter.
When asked if she would allow the boy to go, she said it would be discussed as a family. She said the family was not buoyant enough to afford private university fees if the offer was not a full scholarship. She said her husband was a retired staff of the defunct NITEL where he worked as a technician and had experienced hard luck in his efforts at running businesses.
She said: “We are not really well off and we cannot afford private university fees. If it is full scholarship, my opinion is ‘why not?’
The Uturu, Okigwe, Abia-based varsity, awarded scholarship to Ekene and Emmanuel Chidiebube 16, who scored 346.

Few hours after Zlatan was released from the EFCC custody, Social media has been on fire following Davido‘s claims that he hired a SAN to ensure Zlatan was released.
Instablog posted a Video of Davido talking in that direction but due to the loads of negative comments the post got, Instablog had to delete the video as many insulted them of posting lies.
